5 reasons we love Courchevel Le Praz

Experience a different side of Courchevel in the authentic mountain village of Le Praz. It’s pretty as a picture and with a new gondola, it’s easy to access the slopes of the Three Valleys.

Here are our 5 reasons to love Courchevel Le Praz:

  • It’s just so pretty!

Think twinkling lights, rustic cobbled streets and thick layers of snow on the chalet rooftops… Courchevel Le Praz feels like a quintessential Alpine village with a dash of classic French elegance to be found in the cosy candlelit restaurants and bars.

  • An authentic mountain village

Home to local ski instructors, hotel and restaurant staff, it’s rare to hear English voices in the streets of Le Praz. The village feels like an authentic and atmospheric place to live rather than a glitzy resort – you’d never think you were in one of the most famous ski areas on earth if you hadn’t just spent all day on the 600km of slopes!

  • Easy 3 Valleys access

New for 2019-2020 is a high speed gondola which will depart from the smart new ‘Alpinium’ lift station. The 10-seater lift will go straight up to Courchevel 1850 in six minutes. Alternatively there’s the recently-added covered chairlift which takes skiers up to the top of the La Tania bubble, meaning quick access to Meribel via the Col de la Loze.

  • Forest runs

Many visitors to Courchevel are dazzled by the bright lights and whizzy lifts of 1850, but they often miss Le Praz’s forested runs which are much less crowded and are great in snowy weather for better visibility among the trees. Serious skiers love to explore Le Praz’s red and black pistes, and the famous Jockeys run will be seeing the top international racers speeding down in 2023 for the Alpine Ski World Championships.

  • Renowned restaurants

You’re spoilt for choice on the chalet night off! Le Praz is home to recommended eateries such as Le Bistrot du Praz (Our Chalet Dulcis Casu is located behind this restaurant), La Table de Mon Grand Pere, Michelin-starred L’Azimut. Our favourites are:

  • L’Etable des Lys,  This cellar bar/restaurant with original vaulted ceilings is great for an atmospheric meal.
  • La Petite Bergerie (for those who have been to La Praz you will know it as Le Darbeilo) with an open fire and the best cheese fondue in the 3 valleys this needs to be top of your list for restaurant bookings!
