La Tania… The Village

La Tania is a pretty place, dotted with chocolate box chalets amongst the pine forests which line the pistes entering the village.

Lying at 1350m it is part of the snow-sure area of Courchevel with access to the vast expanse of pistes that make up the Three Valleys…

Around the car-free centre, tasteful stone and wood chalets have been constructed to accommodate holidaymakers looking for a friendly, good value and snow-sure resort from which to enjoy the wonders of the Three Valleys.

The village itself was just a tiny hamlet until 1992 when the accommodation was built for athletes and journalists who were involved in the Albertville Winter Olympics (you’ll pass the ski jumps in Le Praz along the road into resort).

Nowadays La Tania is a small resort which is popular with skiers and snowboarders returning regularly to enjoy the relaxed and friendly vibe.

What’s on?

The village itself is home to a handful of welcoming eating, drinking and shopping establishments as well as a little park for the youngsters and an area for sledging on the side of the slopes. Click here for a list of where to eat and drink in La Tania and the other resorts in Courchevel.

There are regular live music sessions in La Tania’s bars. If you visit – which is run by a La Tania local – you’ll find all the updated information on who’s playing when and where. You can also ask your chalet host for tips on what’s happening and where, they’ll have the insider info on the best places for apres-ski!

If you’re a non-skier, then La Tania is a lovely place to enjoy the mountain scenery. There are some gorgeous walks through the trees which can be accessed on foot or by hiring snow-shoes. You can also purchase a pedestrian ski pass which will allow you to use the gondola and stroll around higher up the mountain and even pop into the Bouc Blanc (one of our favourite restaurants, and also frequented by William and Kate on their most recent visit to Courchevel!)

Getting around…

Accessing the lifts is easy from our ski-in, ski-out chalets, or simply by calling our driver! There’s a nursery slope which is served by a short button lift, another longer drag and the main lift which is a gondola that whizzes you up to an area from which you can ski back down into the village, or go up another level by chairlift and easily access Courchevel or Méribel.

There are free buses – ‘navettes’ – running between La Tania and Le Praz, Courchevel, Moriond and Courchevel Village so you can explore the whole area easily and return to La Tania on foot or after the lifts have shut. Pick up a timetable from your chalet or click for the Mairie’s navette timetable.

What’s new?

For Winter 2019-2020 there will be a new green run running through the forest and back into resort, to make the descent even easier for beginners and children.
